Yin Yang

Hello there :)

So today's post is all about sport luxe or sport chic for some...Basically it's some kind of revolutionary "in style" trend, where an outfit incorporates active wear and other pieces of a formal look..

There are two things I love about the sport luxe look : one, you do not have to try so hard; two, it brings out a good balance between casual and formal. As someone who pretty much over thinks everything and who is drawn towards depth...This outfit right here is like a breath of fresh air whereby I do not have to necessarily wear heels with a dress or have my brows on fleek when I am doing such an up close picture...why? Well that red lipstick is enough I think, and truly I know nothing about make up and where will I find the time..

Tihihihihi, my friends and sisters are always making fun of my brows, aside of that the in trend right now is thick eyebrows, I have those...but they are mess yand going in opposite directions like they were enemies...I thought of getting the eyebrow make up pack but again, is it needed? or it will just be extra expenses for no good reason, and it is not like I wear make up everyday ...So I decided not to get the pack nor have my brows on fleek, I will try to arrange them (even the stubborn brows), so that Vaseline and eyebrow brush shall do...I mean yet before no eyebrows at all becomes a trend ....The point is , before we engage in following a trend, ask yourself whether it really matches your originality or whether it adds something positive to your life or make you happy..not just for the sake of  likes or a new hashtag on that instagram picture gurlll!!!! Indeed I have figured out that whenever I try so hard that's when things fall apart really..so creativity, uniqueness and originality it is!

Anywho, getting back to the outfit ..I created a whole balance by pairing edgy items with more conservative ones..As most of you know, black and white are the main colors of a simple, conservative, basic and classy look. Additionally pearls and a tuxedo blazer are also pretty conservative items, while a chocker and leather are viewed as more edgy. Since I am all about a black and white outfit, I broke the dullness of an all black dress by pairing it with a white blazer, which matched the black and white Nike running shoes. Leather is my jush, so that dress had to be made out of leather honey...There you have a balanced outfit which goes so well with any vibrant lip color.

In times of doubt, throw a peace sign and walk away like a baws!!!!!

Tuxedo Blazer: Legit
Dress: Mr Price
Nike Women Running shoes (although I could have gone to the kiddies section with my size 4) : Total Sports (Flex TR5)

Don't take yourselves too seriously, you might miss out on a laugh or two...

Thank you for passing by and reading if you did :P

Retrospective

Wassup doe????

Oh I am beyond excited about today's post...today is all about the Retro style (the 90s) my second favorite look (well yeah, had I been born in the 1950s I would have been happier style-wise, everything then was so classy and simple)....

This look reminds me of the Martin Show..My roommate and I spent countless hours watching it last year, and every episode was hilarious I must say....In the outfit there is a little bit of Gina in terms of the high-waist jeans and the heels, and some Pam with all the accessories....Tihihihi and maybe a lil Sheneneh with the attitude (ok none at all...but am still a layd-eh)

Getting back to the essence of the look though, I love the retro style because it allows one to get out of their comfort zone and explore...It seems in the 90s rules around mixing and matching concepts did not apply, one could really go all out on accessories with no worries to look ridiculous...Often my friends tease me that I always walk out stacked with accessories, but Gosh how fun is it to step out knowing that you probably look a Christmas tree but at least you are being a little different from anyone else around you (never be complacent and boring)....

Although I am a style Vasco da Gama (explorer) , I still need my full look to be well balanced. In this instance, I made sure to pair my printed soft blazer with a basic white tee and black pumps. I added bright blue denim so that the colours of the soft blazer may really come out...Then I went all out with the accessories..I mixed white gold with silver (that non-conventionality of the 1990s)...

Soft Blazer: A gift from mother (she is so supportive, I am so grateful to have her and her wardrobe lol)

Long-sleeve Tee: Mr Price

Ayt now I gotta get with the steppin' (I have exams to study for #lehustleisreal), Thank you for passing by....

Preppy Lil' Star

Hello, hello there!!!

I am so excited about this month's theme (Lol, is that even a theme though?)... Well, this month I want to showcase all the lil facets of my style. One thing I am grateful for is that my body, the Style Vasco da Gama in me and my petite size allow me to evolve and explore different styles...I cannot wait to post all four outfits, I have prepared for you guys....

Anywho, with no further delay, today's post is all about the preppy look and saying no to Monday blues (no, I am not always this happy about Mondays but sometimes you gotta motivate yourself to wake up and kick ass)....

Fall has started this side of the world (Cape Town), so it's necessary to cover up and layer up...One good thing about the preppy style is that you can layer up by wearing a shirt underneath a sweater to keep warm...
Also, you can always pair it up with a skirt, a dress or pants....

Another cool thing about this outfit is that it can be worn at the office or any other business casual, semi-casual or casual event.

Shirt: Mr Price
Sweater: Mr Price

Have a nice week ahead and thank you for reading lovelies :)

3D Heritage Part 3

Namaste, hello beautiful you!

Today's outfit is all about one's "roots", all about being comfortable in your skin and history and all about happiness....To make myself sound even more cliche, yes I am totally listening to India Arie -Brown skin...Well not only because I am a cocoa girl, but also because I love all things organic, all things soulful, chilled, neo-conscious and deep...(or just maybe to set the ambiance)

So this is my idea of laid back, totally relaxed and no stress or pin ups..Matter of fact if I could I would probably dress like this everyday and dance along to the rhythm of my lil happy heart...
So for those who have no idea what a Dashiqui is, it's almost like a T-shirt/Dress or shirt-dress (whatever way you wanna see it, kinda :-P)

What I love the most about the Dashiqui is its size, shape and line structure...There is enough room, enough space that you can even wear a sport bra and your granny undies with it, and still look presentable....(ain't that some ish?)

It's already so colorful and lively, that it does not require to wear lots of make up with or complex jewelry or anything "extra".

Dashiqui: A gift (from my mom (Rwanda), in support of the blog....)
Oxfords: Mr Price
Hat: Foschini
Bracelets: Mr Price
Ring: Thrifted
Earnings: A gift from my lil mama

Be well, be happy, and thank you for reading!!!

3D Heritage Part 2

Hello there beautiful you!! By the way thank you for reading or just passing by.

Today's blog post is most definitely to be worn at a dinner, or special occasion,...Anything that would require you to SLAY honey, or just look lovely with class, grace and a lil bit of edge...

I am very proud to be showcasing the dress, which is one my designs....So sometimes when I have nothing to do, I make sketches of garments, and once I am home, I visit my mom's tailor and we create magic ( Magic? well, so I believe :p).

You may wonder why not taking a clutch instead? But my simple answer is where would you carry the flat shoes? Yes heels are pretty and all, but a girl does get tired; so instead of looking like a cripple at the end of the night, I'd rather change into my flats hunty!!!

Dress: My own design
Heels: Fashion Express
Bag: BlackCherry South Africa (available on Kalahari)
Earrings: I cannot remember where I got them from
Bracelet: Gift

Thank you so much for reading, stay happy...
