One top, three ways to party it out!!!

Happy New Year beautiful beings!!!

It's hard to believe that the year has come to an end. I truly feel like I was going down a slide one time! Yesterday we were in January and now we are in January in a few hours! Yikees, next thing I know, I will be old and grey without understanding what just happened to me.

Seriously though 2015 really taught me how to take it one day at a time. I think that as much as it is important to have dreams and plan ways to achieve them,  It is also important to  let the flow of life take place and not rush through but embrace it. Because one thing we can never have again is time.

As much as am not one to have new year's resolutions (I will probably not commit to by the 3rd), I look forward to living and be more alive in 2016. Maybe the plan of action is to have daily resolutions whose progress I can evaluate at the end of the day, and see where it all takes me. As for you my beloved, I hope that you will all discover yourselves, have a deeper understanding of yourselves, achieve your dreams and goals but most importantly live! Find your truth, live it and let it light your path, sprinkle it with love for all that you meet and lastly empower you as a being on an uncertain journey.

Meanwhile, I have prepared for you three ways to wear one top and create three outfits with it.

The sophisticated look

The Street-cred look

Trying to live in the moment, mostly sun bask lol.

The Girl meets boy look

Lots of love, light and most importantly thank you so much for supporting me through reading the blog, your likes and comments. I appreciate the effort and the love!

three days, three dresses for Christmas!

Hello there beautiful beings!

I hope that everyone is well, that you are all cozy at home with family or friends that have become family. I know that this time of the year is special for most people and requires us to be all dressed up for the wrong and right reasons lol. So to prepare for all events and circumstances, as well as tastes I created three looks: the cute, the sexy and the classy which will help you to go through it all in style!

The cute

In the event that you are not a fan of heels but still want to look cute and fancy, you can opt for metallic flats and wear an embellished dress or blouse along with pants or a flared/pencil skirt.

Dress: Forever New
Flats: Fashion Express

The sexy

The holiday time can also bring out all types of sexy out of your closet. Do not be shy to dress a lil sassy, a lil charming, Christmas is a party too!

Dress: BoityxLegit
Heels: Fashion Express

The classy

For the last choice, I chose a more sophisticated and classy look with subtly embellished patterns.

Dress: Forever New
Heels: Fashion Express
Jewelry set: Lovisa

The ultimate style tip is to mix metallic items with with soft colors (i.e. blush and whites if you want to achieve a more sophisticated look). with red, pink, black or bright and strong orange if you want to achieve a more sassy and fun look, lastly soft pinks, blue and cream if you want to achieve a rather cute look.

Love, lots of warmth and  hugs. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy holidays!

holiday-ing

Hello pretty and beautiful beings!!!

First and foremost I would like to thank all of you who have been supporting me, re-posting and mentioning me, reading and just passing by. This baby blog has started to get some shape and form, and it's my delight to know that you appreciate my work. You are all appreciated.

It's the holiday time!!! Yaayyyy, how exciting to be with family, eating and drinking and being merry while perhaps thinking about the time you shall spend at the gym to lose it all again (sigh...this life we live though)...But hey, life is short so do not hesitate to drink water and hydrate yourselves and sleep enough hours to keep it fresh, na'mean.

Anyway, for this lil number, my inspiration was a combination of work-wear and sport lux for the summer. Just because you haven't jet-setted, it doesn't mean that you can't rock up to the office looking like a walking island or party! Bright colors are definitely in, in the summer. To bring the party to life you can pair it with a floral jacket and heels that match just to bring up some type of harmony to the outfit. To stay work wear ready, opt for monochrome items and perhaps play around the texture of the garments. For example, you can mix a lace skirt, denim pants or leather patterned pants with a light fabric blouse, both monochrome and capitalize on the type of texture to create a theme and establish some coordination. I capitalized on flowers, sunshine and blue skies.

Socially Responsible Consumerism

Hello there!!!!

So, on the topic du jour is socially responsible consumerism.

In the 21st century more is better, period! We all want more, we all want variety, we all want options and not necessarily in a shallow materialistic way; but because we want what we want or simply want a shoe to match half our wardrobe while looking cute and all.

Talking about options, I needed (more of wanted) a pair of colorful sneakers, preferably floral sneakers. Why you ask? Well because comfort and cuteness obliges! The first thing that came to my mind was to go on a hunt for some floral Nike Roshe, but really who doesn't have those?! Then I kept on questioning myself as to why I wanted floral sneakers, well for starters next year will be a busy year for me with a lot of movement involved. I needed something that made me stand out, yet practical and versatile.

While on the hunt for floral sneakers, my cousin told me about this Saturday morning Pop up that happens on 6th Spin Street, Cape Town CBD. As soon as I entered the hall where the pop up was happening,  my eyes were immediately drawn to the Inkkas Flora Joggers. Perfect you say? Oh heck ya! They were a great combination of colors and subtlety. not to mention the black that enveloped all that warmth impeccably! It was a good balance between a basic color and a whole lot of luminous bright colors.

The meticulous person that I am, I firstly analysed her from side to side to the sole, she was calling my name like we've known each other from the workshop. As I admired the shoe, one of the gentlemen Paul (Inkkas's representative in South Africa) came to chat to me about the brand and what it stands for. While I was
thinking about the cost of the pair relative to the Nike Roshe, the idea and vision behind the Inkkas brand was worth ten times more than the Nikes.

Every shoe is made in Peru by a local artisan and for each shoe sold a tree is planted. At that moment there could not be anything more magnificent to me. Like, you are telling me that I will be looking  cute, while a tree is planted and someone's standards of living ameliorated?! Like, pass me a pair of each in my size would you? We are making the world a better place here, in style!

Seriously though, socially responsible consumption means that I am helping a person in real need make ends meet, it means that I am either helping the planet or a person while I enjoy the ownership of an item. For me, there is no other fulfillment there could ever be from  a purchase. Such a purchase differs from one we make when the item is made by a big corporation which makes billions of dollars in profits and may not be ethical. While this purchase feels like a win-win situation, buying a product made by a big corporation simply feels like a ripoff or being trapped in the chains of vain consumerism once again.

As much as some of us fashionistas may think that ethical fashion brands only provide a limited range of products; which sometimes do not match our taste, Inkkas provides a whole range suitable for most. There is a lil some-some for all, for those who like lots of colors to those who like it toned down. One thing for sure, their patterns and prints are original and unique, your feet will be on fleek in a 30 km radius, with no one else wearing the same shoes as you! That's a tick for originality and uniqueness!

When it comes to how well the shoes are made and how comfortable they are. The make is well done, fit for the global market, for any and all cosmopolitan. The Inkkas flora have been my go to sneakers, they are very comfortable and easy to clean, they can be  worn with any outfit from jeans with a white shirt to a dress. All in all, it was a perfect match and balance between cuteness, comfort, uniqueness and altruism.

Freedom

I got my freedom back!

My body may have been beaten
Attempts made to keep my spirit broken
But my soul remains unshaken
It breathes the air of life
And dances to the moving skies

Even in the drought, the river of love within me never runs dry
Yes I may encounter troubles and trials and cry
But it will never stop me from getting up and try
Sometimes I may even get it wrong, I may be hit to the curve and wonder why
But He sure hears my cry
So I will get up and keep on trying
I will do more than surviving

I will enjoy the dance
I will grove to the beat of that inextinguishable source
I have found my freedom; I will nurture it in my embrace
I will walk at my pace
Oh with irrevocable, oh so noticeable grace
I will smile at my truth; let it shine through my face

Peace, love and light!
